As reported at the Council of Administration on January 19, the VFW is sponsoring a bill which is intended to remove a blockage that prevents the California Department of Veterans Affairs from contracting with the Veteran Service Organizations, including the VFW, for the purpose of assisting veterans to pursue claims for benefits from the federal government. AB 1814 has been introduced for this purpose by Assembly members Chuck DeVore (Irvine) and Paul Cook (Yucaipa). Senator Lou Correa (Santa Ana) will also be a Principal Coauthor in the Senate.
