NEW IRS FILING REQUIREMENT FOR SMALL TAX-EXEMPT ORGANIZATIONS

Beginning in 2008, the IRS will have a new filing requirement for small tax-exempt organizations. With certain exceptions, it will apply to tax-exempt organizations that normally have annual gross receipts of $25,000 or less and do not have to file Form 990 or 990-EZ. Filing will be done electronically by “e-Postcard,” which is due by the 15th day of the fifth month after the close of the organization’s tax year.

Service Officer Registration

  • Service Officer Registration Form
    Registering a Post Service Officer is accomplished by properly submitting a post election report and submitting the registration fee of $25.00 to the VFW Department of California. Note: any member in good standing who desires to be a service officer and would like a package of materials can complete the following form and submit it to Department Headquarters with the $25.00 registration fee.

Blood Assistance and Disaster Assistance Information

    Activities for the blood assistance is reported under 3a on the CAVFW Form 12, while the disaster activities are reported under 3b on the CAVFW Form 12.

To enroll in the Blood Assistance a post must complete CAVFW Form 1 and send it in with a check for $20.00 to VFW Department of California. After the post is enrolled, a member of the Post, Ladies or Men’s Auxiliary and their immediate family member who residing in their home can be reimbursed the cost of up to 10 pints of blood.

To enroll in the Disaster assistance, a post must complete CAVFW Form 7c and send it along with a check for $25.00 to the VFW Department of California. After the post is enrolled, a member in good standing of the post can receive up to $1000.00 of emergency relief assistance.
