Veterans and Military Support

The VFW knows best how military service and overseas deployments can impact family life. All of our members have been there, which is why the VFW provides numerous services to military service members and their families.

  • Adopt-a-Unit Program - Adopt-a-Unit program is a Military Assistance Program that helps VFW Posts to create relationships with military units and their families while providing funding for troop farewell and welcome home gatherings.  Adopt-a-Unit's goal is to develop supportive relationships with units before, during and after deployments to help deliver the vast network of resources the VFW has available to the military.

  • Operation Uplink -  Operation Uplink allows troops to call home for free two days every month.

  • Unmet Needs - The Unmet Needs program provides a one-time grant of up to $1,000 for qualifying service members and their families experiencing financial hardship.

  • Resources for Homeless Veterans

        Healing California,

        Supportive Services for Veteran Families,

        Veterans Community Services,

        National Next of Kin Registry,

        Homeless Court Program,

In addition to these troop support programs, the VFW will continue fighting tirelessly in Washington, D.C. to tell Congress that veterans deserve the best equipment, housing, pay and benefits as defenders of America’s freedom.
